Our History
Shortly after graduating from Bible College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Pastoral Theology, Dr. Joe Esposito answered the Lord’s calling to start a Baptist church in his hometown, Long Beach, California. In 1988, Pastor Esposito and his wife with Pastor & Mrs. Steve Meyers founded Pacific Baptist Church.
By God’s grace through His faithful servants, Pacific Baptist Church has grown to become a thriving church in the Southern California area and has seen thousands saved, baptized, and added to the church. Missions works and church plants have been started out of the Pacific Baptist Church seeing thousands impacted with the power of the gospel. But, this was only the beginning. God laid the founding of Pacific Baptist Bible College on the heart of Pastor Esposito. In September of 2004 Pacific Baptist Bible College was founded to see full-time servants of God trained to walk with God, start churches, become missionaries, and make a difference in the world for Christ.
Since that time, PBBC graduates have been trained and sent out as missionaries, church planters, ministry leaders in scores of capacities and are doing great things for the Lord around the globe.
Our Vision
Fulfilling the great Great Commission in our region and round the world is the vision of Pacific Baptist Bible College, and this is lived out in the everyday lives of our staff and student body.
With America in need of more Baptist churches than ever before, Pastor Esposito believed that God raised up Pacific Baptist Church and PBBC “for such a time as this.” Pastor Esposito has a vision of Pacific Baptist Church starting over fifty new churches over the next thirty years. God’s vision for Pacific Baptist Bible College is to continue producing church planters and faithful servants of God to be light and salt in our country.
Pacific Baptist Bible College also seeks to continue producing missionaries and servants of God who will fulfill the Great Commission around the globe with the focus of our missions work in the 10/40 Window. Students have the opportunity to be trained by veteran missionaries (both retired and still serving on the field) as they prepare for missions work abroad. Pacific Baptist Bible College students can also even receive credits by serving on the mission field short term.
Our Objectives
The foundational objective of Pacific Baptist Bible College is to train our students for their God-given life purpose. We teach our students to follow the Lord’s revealed will that is found in the Bible. We also strive to prepare our students to seek the Lord’s concealed will for their lives as they walk with Him and actively serve Him in the ministry.
The staff and faculty of Pacific Baptist Bible College teach our students that God’s will is something they can find and fulfill for the rest of their lives. Our staff and faculty do not only teach this philosophy, but our students see this lived by the staff and faculty.
The teaching of Pacific Baptist Bible College is not only in a classroom but our students constantly receive hands on ministry experience. We believe one of the best ways to successfully equip our students for the ministry is by enabling them to apply what they are taught while still in Bible College. For this reason, our students have the opportunity to serve in various ministries of Pacific Baptist Church.
